Electrical testing, EICR & PAT testing

Electrical installations don't last forever. Wiring degrades, connections loosen, and standards evolve – what was perfectly acceptable when a property was built may no longer meet current regulations. Regular testing and inspection is the only way to know for certain that your installation is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)

An EICR is a formal assessment of the wiring, circuits, consumer unit, and accessories within a property. Our engineer will carry out a thorough inspection and issue a full written report confirming whether your installation is satisfactory or unsatisfactory.

Where issues are identified, they are classified by severity:

• C1 – Danger present. Immediate action required.
• C2 – Potentially dangerous. Remedial work must be carried out.
• C3 – Improvement recommended, but not immediately required.

If remedial work is needed, we'll talk you through what's involved and can carry out the work ourselves – so there's no need to manage multiple contractors.

A legal requirement for Jersey landlords

Since 1st January 2019, Jersey legislation requires all rented properties to have an electrical safety inspection carried out by a registered engineer – either every five years, or before the start of a new tenancy. If you're a landlord and you're not sure when your last inspection was, it's time to get one booked.

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)

Any electrical item with a plug and a cable – from kettles and monitors to power tools and floor lamps – is classed as a portable appliance and should be tested regularly to ensure it meets Health & Safety requirements. PAT testing is a legal obligation for businesses and gives you documented evidence that your appliances have been checked by a qualified engineer.
